Instruments

PolyInsight operates a laboratory fully-equipped for the examination of materials and surfaces, from the visible to the nanometer level.

Atomic-Force Microscopes

The Dimension 3000 and Multimode AFMs, manufactured by Veeco Instruments (formerly Digital Instruments), give PolyInsight the flexibility required to analyze a wide variety of sample shapes and sizes.

Optical Microscope

The Olympus BX51 research microscope is equipped with both reflected and transmitted light options, polarized light, a digital camera, and automated image analysis software.

Cryomicrotomes

For specialized sample preparation requirements, PolyInsight is equipped with microtomes from Leica and Microstar. Samples can be cooled to temperatures as low as -150 C, and sectioned with either glass or diamond knives.
